The Green Oaks neighborhood features the amazing Independence Grove Dog Park, where dog owners will need to pay a yearly fee for access. This large 30-acre fenced area is situated near the lake and walking trails. Your pooch will be able to socialize with other pups and can even swim in the lake on hot days! Pups can run through the grass and frolic among the natural plants. There are doggie bags provided. If you are looking for a fun day with your furry friend, walk over to the park and allow your pup to have a snifftastic time

Butler Park

Butler Park in the Interlaken Butler Park neighborhood offers 58-acres of open spaces and athletic fields. You and Fido can spend a day walking around the lake along the paths. There are water fountains available to fill up your water bottles, but be sure to bring your own doggie waste bags to clean up after your pup. If Fido is feeling hungry, head over to 545 North Bar and Grill where you can sit at one of 15 outdoor tables and enjoy soup, salad or sandwiches. The friendly staff will even bring your pooch a bowl and some cool water on a warm day.

Member-supported Lake Minear Beach Park in this neighborhood offers swimming in the summer and fishing all year-round. When you and Fido are looking for some quality time together, you can head over to the park to spend the day. Picnic tables offer a great place to relax, and you can even get a snack at the concession stand during the summer. Fido will need to be kept on his leash, but you will be sure to find other canine lovers out for the day with their furry family members. Pups and their parents will also enjoy Adler Memorial Park in the same neighborhood. Friends can play a quick game of disc golf while the pooches sniff butts and relax under the trees.

Liberty Prairie Nature Preserve in the Liberty Prairie neighborhood features hiking trails that are perfect for a day with Fido. With plenty of open space, the park was created to offer people and dog lovers a sanctuary in the city. The trails are well maintained, but they do require some climbing. If your pooch loves to climb and explore nature, he will love this park, so bring your water bottles and doggie waste bags. After a day of exercise, head over to Ganello’s Pizza Company, where you can dine on a variety of Italian cuisine and find a seat at one of the pup-friendly outdoor tables. If you prefer steaks or chops, take your pup to Jimmy’s Charhouse and relax at one of the tables on the patio.

Northern Libertyville

Northern Libertyville

Situated in the Northern Libertyville neighborhood, Paul M Neal Park was created for the local community. Although the park is small, Fido can run around and frolic in the grass while sniffing out the perfect place to do his business. You will need to bring your own doggie waste bags and some water bottles when you need a cool drink. Another great place to walk your pup is Gilbert Stiles Park. Children can climb on the playground equipment while pups walk along the nearby trail. There are also picnic tables where you and your canine companion can enjoy a break and a snack.
