Spaulding Corners
Spaulding Corners, located in the heart of Waukegan, features a puptacular park designed especially for your pooch. Head to the Callahan-Franklin Dog Exercise Area in the Larsen Nature Preserve to treat your furry friend to some off-leash recreation. There are separate fenced enclosures where small and large dogs can safely romp and play together. Each side includes benches and tables for the owners, water stations, and waste bags. Be respectful and make sure to clean up after your pup. In addition to a play space, this facility also offers a range of services such as obedience classes, agility training, fitness with Fido workout sessions, and more.36

N Delaney Rd/Oak Grove Ave
In the N Delaney Rd/Oak Grove neighborhood, you and your pooch have access to a pawtastic place to explore nature. Head to the County Forest Preserve that runs along Skokie Highway. This linear green space surrounds the Des Plaines River. Walk along the paved trail through wetlands, fields, and forested areas while you share some one-on-one time with your special pal. Head north toward the Sedge Meadow Forest Preserve, or hike south and east to connect with the Village Park Trail. Dogs are welcome to accompany you along the trails in these areas, provided you keep them on a leash and pick up any waste.24

Beach Park
From the neighborhood of Beach Park, you and Fido can head to the Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach State Park. Go hiking along the trails in the wooded areas of the park.
