This 33-acre resort features a variety of recreational amenities to keep guests entertained, including an outdoor heated pool, communal grills, picnic areas, kayaks, mini golf, and daily organized activities. Pets are permitted in designated rooms for an additional, onetime pet fee. If you'd like to try authentic coastal Maine cuisine, head over to Robinson's Wharf. A 5-minute drive from the resort, this longtime establishment offers outdoor seating so Fido can tag along.

Southwest Boothbay Harbor
Just 2 minutes by car from Southport, the Thorpe Preserve in Boothbay Harbor is a furrific spot to spend some quiet time outdoors with your four-legged pal. This small, but lovely preserve will take only about 15 minutes to explore, but you may want to stay longer to take in the scenery and fresh air. The Thorpe Preserve houses two trails: one will take you and your pooch to a protected beach on the Boothbay Harbor side, while the other will lead you up a hill overlooking Townsend Gut and the Southport Bridge. Both trails are short, but the latter is more challenging due to its steepness.

West Boothbay Harbor
Oak Point Farm is a must-visit should you and Fido find yourselves in the western part of Boothbay Harbor. Less than 2 miles from Southport, this unique preserve is the only remaining undeveloped saltwater farm in town. Spanning 32 acres, it serves as the headquarters of the Boothbay Region Land Trust and is open to visitors all year round. Take a leashed walk on the trails to explore the freshwater pond, fields, woods, and waterfront. Oak Point Farm is also home to a historic farmhouse that functions as a visitor center, nature center, and event space. Benches and picnic tables are available on-site if you and your pupper need to rest.

Central Boothbay Harbor
Located in downtown Boothbay Harbor near the schools and shops, Penny Lake Preserve is a popular destination among residents and tourists alike. A short 10-minute drive from Southport, Penny Lake Preserve is 54 acres of freshwater wetland, woodlands, and open field. Easy trails meander through the site, and a variety of plants and wildlife can be spotted along the way. Before heading to the preserve, stop by Two Salty Dogs Pet Outfitters to pick up some supplies for your pooch. The only pet store in Boothbay Harbor, Two Salty Dogs specializes in locally made treats, toys, and products. The staff will even give you local travel tips!

Southeast Boothbay Harbor
Because it is not frequented by tourists, Barrett's Park is the pawfect place to relax with your pup in Boothbay Harbor. Just 10 minutes from Southport, this park offers woofderful views of Lewis Cove, a swimming beach, open grassy areas, and walking paths. There's definitely a lot for Fido to see, sniff, and explore here! Benches and picnic tables are scattered around the park as well, so it's a good idea to pack food and treats. Another interesting feature about Barrett's Park is its tidal range—at low tide, you and your pooch can walk farther out and see the critters in the tide pools.
