Overview

Romance movies and adorable doggos are a match made in heaven. For sentimental pet parents, nothing's better than cuddling up with your fur-baby for a movie marathon of your favorite romantic movies. And a canine supporting cast makes these romantic movies all the more charming.

Wondering what to watch on your next night in? Here are 5 romance movies with dogs that'll make you and your woofer feel all warm and fuzzy.

Lady and the Tramp (2019)

Can you believe the first Lady and the Tramp was released in 1955? While the 2019 live-action remake might not reach the heights of the original cartoon, it's a must-see for any Disney-loving pet parent.

This story about star-crossed lovers, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Schnauzer mix, is sure to still tug at the heartstrings. Plus, you'll get to see a live-action version of the iconic spaghetti scene!

Marley & Me

Marley & Me might be the "pawfect" dog-themed flick. Following the life and love of John, Jenny, and their mischievous Labrador, Marley & Me is funny, romantic, comforting, and heartbreaking.

The romance in Marley & Me is also unique — it deals with the trials and tribulations of a "happily-ever-after" marriage rather than the "will-they-or-won't-they?" narratives you'll find in most rom-coms. Any pet parent who hasn't seen Marley & Me needs to arrange a movie night with their mutt ASAP!

Dog Days

2018's Dog Days tells 5 interconnected stories of how dogs bring people together, helping them open up their hearts to being loved by others.

From feuding morning news co-anchors who fall for each other to an animal care center owner trying to build up the courage to tell a beautiful barista he loves her, this movie has plenty of lovey-dovey moments. With a hilarious ensemble cast and plenty of dog-based shenanigans, Dog Days is ideal for your dog-friendly romantic movie marathon.

Must Love Dogs

Must Love Dogs might feel a bit dated to modern film audiences, but its heart is certainly in the right place. This film is about a recently divorced woman, Sarah, using an internet dating service to find a date who "must love dogs."

Her dating profile leads to a date at a dog park with a deceptive Jake, played by John Cusack. It's an unusual premise that, while predictable, offers plenty of comedic relief and a couple of lovable leads. Plus, Sarah's Newfoundland named Mother Theresa is a terrific canine co-star.

The Truth About Cats and Dogs

A '90s take on the nineteenth-century play Cyrano de Bergerac, The Truth About Cats and Dogs is an oldie but a goodie. Abby, played by Janeane Garofalo, is a vet with a radio show called "The Truth About Cats and Dogs."

Abby has second thoughts after agreeing to meet a guy, Brian, who she met on air, as she's insecure about her appearance. She asks her model friend, Noelle (played by Uma Thurman), to pretend to be her. It's a witty flick with a stand-out performance by Hank the rollerskating Boerboel.
