It’s always a party in Pardeeville, a small village located in Columbia County, Wisconsin. At least, it will be once you and your darling doggy show up on the scene. Don’t let the sleepy nature of this city turn you away, and you’ll soon see what makes this such a prime location for dog lovers. While just far enough from the bustling city of Madison to keep that small-town feeling, Pardeeville is close enough as well to make the trip to the other, larger city in short order.
If you’re willing to brave the trip to Madison for your pup’s benefit, you’ll find a number of activities for the both of you to indulge in. There are two dog-friendly hiking trails to choose from, three shops, as well as a total of eight parks. If that seems excessive, you’ve not lived the Madison lifestyle yet! One example of such extravagance can be found in Warner Dog Park, an eight-acre, fenced-in location that features grassy plains, wooded areas, as well as access to a lake for those dogs that love to get their paws wet. The best part is it's only a short drive from Pardeeville, so you can visit whenever you like.
You and your pooch will pawsitively love exploring Pardeeville and its surrounding areas!
A stop that’s especially prudent on your doggy to-do list is in Buss's Corner, a scenic neighborhood in Token Creek. Here, you’ll find Token Creek Park Pet Exercise Area. With two separate areas for large and small dogs, Token Creek is known for having an especially large area for small dogs. Your little runt won’t be forgotten by way of the big boys; just be sure to keep an eye on your pup. The area is fenced in, but especially tricky pups can always find a way to wiggle out. Be sure to clean up after your dog, and have fun!
For another park with tons of room for your pup to go dog wild off their leash, make your way to Bram's Addition, where you’ll find Quann Dog Park. With well-kept gravel to cushion puppy’s paws, this park is well-known for its size. Feel free to let Fido off-leash and toss a ball around! It’s the perfect place to burn off excess energy, and at the same time, your dog will be sure to meet some great new friends. Be the talk of the park and bring some tasty treats for your furry friend to share with his new puppy pals.
Head northeast for your next stop and you’re sure to have a ball in this region of Madison! A tennis ball, if you’re lucky! Sycamore Dog Park, the crown jewel of this particular region, is a large, fenced-in park with a smaller play area for small and senior dogs. If your pup is a little older, but still loves to spend their days playing in the sun with others, this is the place for you. The people are said to be friendly, as well as their canine companions. Just bring clean drinking water, and pick up after your pup.
Pitter patter your pup’s paws on down south, but keep eastwards to find a furrific park. In the Arbor Hills region of Madison, you’ll find Capital Springs Recreation Area. A peaceful little area with the friendliest of visitors in both human and dog form, the park features both a large and small dog area for your pup to explore. There’s a nice gravel path to walk alongside your precious pal, or maybe even go for a run to burn off some excess energy -- that of both you and your canine companion. Be sure to keep hydrated, and you’ll have a blast, we guarantee it!
If you’re looking for a special treat for yourself after a long day of treating your pup to fun and games, stop in at Cork and Bottle Liquor Store in Old Market Place. A dog-friendly shop where your pup will be free to enjoy some complimentary treats, grab yourself something fancy and indulge a bit. You deserve it, and as long as your dog is welcomed with open arms, how can you really go wrong? Just be prepared to clean up any messes, or better yet, take your pup out to potty before going inside to avoid accidents altogether!
