Both areas have lots of space for dogs to run and play, and doggy bags are available. To use the dog park, you’ll have to purchase either an annual or a daily dog pass. Once you do that, you can stay and play in the park as long as you’d like! Bring some water with you, and have fun playing in this dog park.
If you’re searching for a furtastic place to take your dog for an on-leash hike, check out Samuel Donian Wetland Preserve. This preserve is located 18 miles from Salem, and it has a flat, paved pathway that goes along Mill Creek. There are also lots of benches along this walkway where you can relax and enjoy views of the water. If you want to get your dog a treat after your walk, head to Paws for Treats. This local pet shop sells lots of fun toys, and they also have healthy, high-quality treats your dog is sure to love!
When you’re in Racine’s Johnson Park neighborhood, you'd be barking mad to miss Johnson Dog Park. Located 26 miles from Salem, this 28-acre dog park features big open fields your dog can run in. It also has wooded trails where your dog can walk off-leash. Plus, if your dog likes swimming, the park also has a river your pup can play in! The park isn’t fenced, so be sure to keep your dog under voice control while they’re playing, running, and swimming. Bring some water and doggy bags with you, and have a great time at this huge dog park!
If you’re looking for another fun-filled off-leash area for your pup, check out Burlington Area Dog Park. This dog park is 13.5 miles from Salem, and it has separate fenced areas for large and small pups. Both areas have picnic tables where tired pet parents can rest while their dogs play, and water is also available. If you want to get a bite to eat after playing at the dog park, head to The Coffee House at Chestnut and Pine. Sit at one of their three dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy hot and cold coffee drinks, sandwiches, flatbreads, wraps, and more.
Located 18 miles from Salem, this Ringwood neighborhood is home to Glacial Park, a picturesque 3,412-acre park that allows dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you and your dog can hike on the park’s five miles of trails. If you want to go on a short trek around a scenic marsh, try the 1.1-mile Marsh Loop Trail. Or, if you want to walk through a beautiful forest, hop on the 1.2-mile Coyote Loop Trail. You can also try the 1.7-mile Prairie Trail, or you can go on a longer hike on the 2.1-mile Deerpath Trail. Whichever trail you choose, you and your dog are sure to have fun here!
