Diamond Head Beach Park

Diamond Head Park Beach is a quiet beach located in Honolulu, right under the Diamond Head, a historic crater that was formed from a volcanic eruption. Dogs are allowed to join in on the fun here too in all areas below the retaining wall, provided they stay leashed. It's challenging to get to this beach and it's more on the ruff side, but the views are worth it! It's a great place to enjoy the sun and salty ocean breeze with your four-legged friend.

To reach Diamond Head Park, take Diamond Head Drive uphill, until you reach the parking lot at the top. Here you'll also find three iconic lookouts. This is a great chance to take in some of the rugged, panoramic ocean and mountain views. To get to the beach, you'll need to hike down the cliff side towards the ocean. There are limited facilities here, but keep in mind that you're only minutes from Waikiki, where you'll find a plethora of restaurants and shops. 

Some of the things to for you and your adventure dog to discover on this beach include the Diamond Head Lighthouse, tide pools, the surfing and windsurfing community, amazing beach front homes, and great beach combing opportunities. The one thing that Diamond Head Beach is not well-known for, is the swimming. The reef is shallow and extends right up to the beach. At the south end of the beach, in Cromwell's Cove, there are some deeper sections that are great for taking a dip and cooling off.

Be sure to bring along plenty of fresh drinking water for you and your pal. In all the excitement of ocean play time, it's easy for your pup to get dehydrated or overheated. Please follow the leash rules, and bring clean up bags to pick up after your pooch. By following these principles, a good time can be had by all.
