The American Wilderness Campground is the closest place to camp near Cleveland. In just 35 minutes, campers can drive to downtown Cleveland, and Elyria is only 15 minutes away. Campers can choose to stay in a tent or RV site, as well as primitive camping sites or cabin rentals. The campground sits in a wooded area, and several sites have lake views. Your pooch can enjoy the magic of American Wilderness at a tent or RV site, but they're not allowed in cabins. One pet is included in the rate for each site, and a second pet is permitted for an additional $7 fee.
Tent and RV sites at American Wilderness have picnic tables and fire rings, and there are sites with 20, 30, and 50-amp hookups. Drinking water is available, and there's also a dump station on-site. RV and tent sites range from $30 to $48 per night, and lake views cost an extra $5. The rustic cabins can sleep between four and five people, and include some small kitchen appliances and a table with chairs. Outside, you'll find fire rings, water, and picnic tables. Don't forget to bring bedding! Cabins rent for $75 nightly, and a one-night non-refundable deposit is required upon booking.
Some of the campground's excellent amenities include laundry facilities, clean restrooms, and hot showers, a rec hall, and group picnic areas. There are also two playgrounds, several sports courts, an 11-acre stocked fishing lake and boat rentals, and a big game room. If you're up for a beach day, there's a sandy swimming beach on-site, too! Campers can also hike or bike on one of several trails near the campground.
Throughout the year, the American Wilderness Campground hosts fun events like hayrides, crafts, bingo nights, potlucks, and more, so keep an eye out for these pawesome activities.
