The beautiful Burchfield Branch Park is located along the Black Warrior River Waterway right on Holt Lake, approximately 5 miles from the City of Tuscaloosa in Alabama. The Black Warrior River Waterway was created to improve transportation and is essentially a series of locks and dams constructed throughout the 450 mile Black Warrior River, creating six lakes in total. Burchfield Branch Park is located right on the shady shores of Holt Lake, providing its visitors with unlimited water access.
The campground is a peaceful, secluded location making it the perfect getaway for any camper. There are a total of 36 sites with both water and electric hookups. Hot showers are available to RV campers, as well as trash collection. There is one picnic shelter that can be used and reserved by groups that it is first come, first served.
Conveniently, this campground is dog-friendly and welcomes all pooches, as long as they remain on a leash when in the developed recreation areas on the campground. You are also asked to bring along poop bags and tidy up after your pet. When on your campsite, your pup is free to explore the site off leash, as long as they remain under your control at all times.
At the campground, you and your pup can find an abundance of activities to keep yourself busy. Holt Lake is most popular for it's fishing as the lake is home to a variety of fish species including bream, crappie, bass, and even catfish. In addition to fishing, you can also enjoy scenic walks along the shore with your pooch, being on the lookout for wildlife in the area including wild turkey, squirrels, deer and all sorts of bird species. If you have children with you, together you can also take advantage of the two playgrounds located right inside the campground, or go for a swim to cool off in the lake.
