Nimrod Dam was never intended for recreational use but, over time, became a hot spot for tourists and visitors to the campground. Fishing is high on the agenda for this little Carden Point Campground and there is an abundance of Catfish, Bass, Bluegill, and Crappie waiting to be snapped up by an experienced, enthusiastic angler.
Carden Point Campground also boasts 11 boat ramps, all conveniently situated around the shoreline of the lake. Water sports are frequently done here, including fun things like boating, water skiing, and tubing.
The vast amount of woodland area comprises of an assortment of exciting wildlife such as White-Tailed Deer, Eastern Wild Turkeys, Bob White Quail, squirrels, rabbits, foxes, mink, black bear, doves, and waterfowl. Beware, though, seasonal hunting is permitted provided it is not close to a recreational area.
And finally, Carden Point Campground also offers a huge group picnic table with drinking water and outdoor tables. For those groups or families who want to entertain, they can make use of the playground, horseshoe pit, and the swimming beach.
Peak dates are between the months of March and October. Fees cost approximately $40 all in. Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash. There are a few other amenities this campground offers like flushing toilets, electric hookups, trash collection and fire pits.
