Carter Cove Campground is situated on the beautiful Nimrod Lake, nestled between the Ozark Mountains and the Ouachita Mountains. Like many lakes found in the US, Nimrod Lake was created using a dam system in the Fourche LaFave River. The Dam was created to control flooding but as a result of the dam, the lake has become a popular location for individuals who love the outdoors.Â
In Carter Cover, you will find 34 larger and more modern campsites available to book. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Water and Electricity hookups are available on site. There is also one large group picnic shelter that is used on a first come, first serve basis but is perfect for a family gathering. Not far from the sites you can find access to the beach, a boating ramp, as well as a playground for the kids to enjoy. Dogs are welcome to accompany you camping and as long as they remain on-leash when in the common areas and are cleaned up after, there will be no issues!Â
The secluded location of the campground gives campers the perfect opportunity to watch the wildlife inhabiting the nearby forests. Animals that have been spotted on the campground and in the surrounding forests include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrel, rabbit, fox, black bears, doves and bobwhite quail. Taking a hike or walk on nearby trails is the perfect way to experience the naturalistic setting of the campground.Â
