Description
If you and your pooch are looking for a unique, new adventure outdoors, then Crystal Springs Campground should be next on your list of places to visit! Perched on the shores of Lake Ouachita in Arkansas, Crystal Springs Campground offers many aquatic adventures.

The lake itself is nestled within the Ouachita Mountains, which is about 10 miles west of Hot Springs National Park. One of the reasons this lake, and consequentially, the Crystal Springs Campground is so popular, is because the pool is fed by the cool waters of the Ouachita River and extends about 30 miles over 40,000 surface acres. Because of this, the lake is known for its high underwater visibility. In fact, you can even see fish from the surface, including "small and rare freshwater jellyfish (non-stinging)... in addition to many types of fish, including the striped bass, lazily drifting between rocks." If you feel like having an up-close-and-personal experience, scuba diving in these fresh waters is also a fun, popular activity, although your pup may not be able to join you in that adventure!

Outside of the water, there's a lot more to see and do as well. For instance, bald eagles frequently visit the area, making for an awesome photo opportunity. Additionally, the campground sits on part of the 223-mile Ouachita National Recreation Trail, so you and your pup can literally take a hike! For resting and relaxation, Crystal Springs "has one of the best beaches on the lake with a playground for kids right on the beach."

As for the campsite itself, there's a boat ramp, a marina, and even a restaurant! If you feel like cooking, yourself, almost all of the sites within Crystal Springs have their own water and electric hookups, as well as grills to cook your fresh catch of the day. All in all, this campsite is the perfect place for families, friends, and couples. So perfect, in fact, that around 1.2 million people visit the lake each year to explore its crystal clear waters and scenic mountainous landscape!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
