Description
It is hard to believe that beauty could be added to the Ozark Mountains, but that seems to be what occurred with the development of the Beaver Dam. In 1966, the Beaver Lake and Dam were completed in the White River Basin, creating 449 miles of shoreline. The dam was built to bring flood control, hydroelectric power, and public water supply to the region. It also enhanced the area by creating an abundant place for recreation.

Camping at the Dam Site River is located along the White River. There are 58 sites available along the shore. The sites are described as roomy and shady. The camper will enjoy fire rings, picnic areas, and drinking water, plus nearby restroom facilities. There is a playground. Year-round camping is available but the winter camping is on a first-come basis. Amenities within the area include a dump station, boat ramp, host, and parking.

The area is delightful for the nature lover and outdoor sports-person. Visitors describe the beauty of the waterways and bluffs, the hiking trails, and changing seasons. Hunters will find deer, rabbit, and squirrel. The fisherman can toss a line to catch rainbow and German brown trout in the river. It is a short drive to the Beaver Lake for catching large and small-mouth bass, crappie, bream, white bass, stripers, and channel or spoon-bill catfish. There is much to do if you want to go spelunking, scuba diving, canoeing, biking, or hiking. Near to the campground are marinas, restaurants, and stores with fishing guides and camping supplies.

Pets are welcome to the campground. Always leash your pet while in the camping area. Never leave your pet unattended or tethered. Be a good neighbor and clean up after your pooch. Remember to bring water and plan your pet's needs for the days as you venture out to fish, walk, or travel about the area.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
