Forkland Campground is one of many Corps of Engineers recreation areas along the Black Warrior River in Alabama. Forkland has many fun opportunities to offer you and your pupper: a huge lake, boat ramps, a picnic area, and hiking trails. Families are welcome (especially with their pups) to enjoy the playground and picnic areas. Larger groups can even reserve a picnic area for a day that can accommodate up to 50 people.
The best part is that, being in the Black Belt region, Forkland Campground has diverse wildlife ranging from birds to wildflowers. Throughout the woodlands you can spot unusual birds that are native to the area. Most popular are Northern Parulas, Yellow-throated Warblers, Prothonotary Warblers, Acadian Flycatchers, and Eastern Bluebirds. You can even spot Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets wading throughout the lake.
However, Forkland is most known for its fishing, whether it be by boat or along the beach of the lake. Bass, crappie, bream, and catfish are among the most popular.
If you’re in Alabama and looking for a real outdoor camping experience, stop into Forkland! Â
