Description

As one of the five Great Lakes, Lake Erie offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor fun and recreation all the way around its extensive shoreline. Geneva State Park, located in Ohio on the lake's northeastern shore, is an ideal spot to experience the best Lake Erie has to offer.

Encompassing 698 acres, this park offers breathtaking views of the lake's shimmering waters and is also the pawfect base for anyone planning a pet-friendly camping vacation. With its own six-lane boat ramp, it provides easy access to Lake Erie's central basin for fishing and boating enthusiasts.

Lake Erie is famous for its large walleye population, but it's also home to yellow perch, channel catfish and steelhead trout. Private charter fishing boats are run out of Geneva Marina for those keen to get amongst the action.

If you want to cool off,  Geneva State Park has its own 300-foot swimming beach. And with the entire park stretching for around two miles along the shoreline, there are several other water access points within the park boundaries.

Away from the water, visitors can explore six miles of multi-use trails, try their luck on the archery range, or go snowmobiling or cross-country skiing. You can also stay a while in the Crabapple Picnic Area, which features two shelterhouses, restrooms, a volleyball court, and horseshoe pit.

When you're ready to set up camp, the picturesque campground features 89 electric sites, four full hook-up sites, and seven non-electric sites. Happily, it's a pet-friendly campground where your canine companion is more than welcome. Twelve cabins are also provided but do not allow pets.

If you are visiting with your dog, make sure that you keep your pet leashed at all times and remember to clean up after your pet whenever necessary. Doing so will win praise from other park users, help keep state parks around the country dog-friendly, and leave you and your pooch free to relax and explore Lake Erie and its surroundings.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
