Description

The area around Lake Greeson provides some of the most spectacular scenery in central Arkansas, and Parker Creek Campground might just be the pawfect spot for you and your pooch to pitch your tent while visiting. Located just six miles from Murfreesboro, the 60-site campsite provides everything you need for a furrific family vacation -- there’s electricity, showers, grills and even a playground for two-legged family members! The site even has access to a small swimming beach, and your buddy is welcome to splash about as long as they stay on a leash with a maximum length of six feet. The campsite is pretty popular with hikers and nature lovers even in winter, when avid birders flock to the lake to try and spot bald eagles.

You won’t need to go too far from the campground to experience a bit of what Lake Greeson has to offer -- there’s an interpretative nature trail right on the edge of the site. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t consider exploring a little fur-ther, though -- several Fido-friendly trails meander through the majestic lolloby pine and oak forests of the Lake Greeson Wildlife Management Area, as well as around the gorgeous reservoir itself. Keen anglers will be glad to know that both the lake and the nearby Little Missouri River are stocked with fat rainbow trout and catfish, and if you think geology rocks, you’d be barking mad to miss a chance to see the striking Chimney Rock formation.

Parker Creek Campsite has access to drinking fountains, but there aren’t any water hook-ups for RVs. The area doesn’t have wifi, and cellular coverage for most networks is spotty at best, so it’s best to give this one a miss if you need to be contactable on your trip. While reservations aren’t required, it’s best to book your spot if you’re staying during the summer months to ensure you get a spot that suits your needs (some sites don’t have electricity, but on the upside, if you’re willing to "ruff" it, you can knock a whole six dollars off your fee). Remember to bring waste bags for your buddy, and have a pawesome trip!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
