Pendleton Bend

Pendleton Bend Campground may be well off the beaten path, but once you get there, the trip is definitely worth the drive! Located along the Arkansas River near the junction of the Post Canal, the campsite is directly located along a migratory bird path as the birds make their way down to the Gulf of Mexico.

If you and your pooch aren't into birds, you can take to the water instead! The campground boasts a boat ramp, meaning you and your pooch can spend the day on the river catching your dinner, which may end up being catfish, as they are plentiful here. The river also makes for some great swimming, too! If you want to do some exploring, feel free to direct your boat over to the Wilbur D. Mills Dam - just don't get too close! Feel free to also explore any of the many hiking trails accessible from the campground. You may even be able to see some deer, rabbits, or squirrels on your hike!

More into history? Then head to the nearby Arkansas Post! This was one of the first settlements west of the Mississippi and remained a pivotal post right up until the Civil War. There, you and your dog can explore part of the history of our nation!

In regards to the sites themselves, all provide the necessities for electric and water hookups. Additionally, each site has a picnic table, and there's even a group picnic shelter! If you're bringing all your children, furry and human alike, there's also a playground for the munchkins to tumble around in! Basically, all the perks of home are availible here, all while being surrounded in nature and being able to explore the great outdoors!
