A pawtastic place to take your pooch camping is the Pickensville Campground on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. This property welcomes families with pets and has sites for both RVs and tents. With a beach, hiking trails, a boat ramp and dock, and a playground, there are activities for everybody here. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy the variety of birds and other wildlife that live around Aliceville Lake. This facility is open year-round and allows walk-in campers from mid-September through February.
When you come to this campground, you can take your pick of recreational activities. Go fishing from your boat, the dock, or the shoreline. There are bass, catfish, crappie, sunfish, and walleye in this lake. If you're a land lover, you can hike through the woods to look for white-tail deer, wild turkeys, raccoon, and more. You'll find some public hunting areas around the reservoir where you can hunt for waterfowl, turkey, and deer. Obtain a hunting permit to take advantage of the open seasons. The camp also has a beach, a multi-use court, and picnic areas for your recreational enjoyment.Â
You can bring your four-footed family member here if you secure them on a leash any time that they're outside. Dogs can't join you on the beach or in the sanitary facilities. Clean up any waste that your pooch leaves while you're staying here. The campground has quiet hours from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.Â
Whether you come to fish, hunt, or enjoy the natural surroundings, Pickensville Campground offers a serene wooded setting where you can pursue these activities. The waterway here supports resident and migratory birds like wood ducks, mallards, Canada geese, and American wigeon. If you hike in the woods, you may also catch sight of a variety of songbirds. In warmer seasons, head down to the beach after your walk and cool off in the lake.Â
