Part of the Alabama River in the region's Black Prairie Belt, Woodruff Lake is known locally as a great place for fishing, especially for bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. If your dog wants to do something more fun, feel free to just boat around, sail, canoe, or jet ski! What's especially convenient is the fact that there's a boat ramp right onsite, providing super-easy water access. And even if you and your pooch don't want to take the boat out, the Lake itself is perfect for swimming, with a great beach granting access right to it!
If water isn't your thing, there's a lot of hiking trails right off the Prairie Creek Campgrounds. From there, you and your pooch can wander the wilderness, taking in the different types of birds, deer, turkey, hogs, and other small game! They may even be able to help you hunt for them, if that's up your alley.
In terms of the campsite itself, there are things to do for both human and fur children alike. You can grab a ball and play hoops on the basketball court, tumble around on the playground, and more. Each campsite has its own grill and picnic table, and guests (including the ones with four paws) have access to the picnic shelters. There are also water and electricity hookups, as well as laundry facilities. Basically, all the amenities of home are found here, with the benefit of being in the wild and exploring nature. So, pack up your pooch, and head to Prairie Creek for your next adventure!
