Description

Perched on the shore of the beautiful Lake Dardanelle, Shoal Bay Campground in Shoal Bay Recreation Area, AR has everything you need for a furrifically Fido-friendly family vacation. The 62-site campground has all you could ask for in terms of creature comforts -- there are showers on-site, electricity and water hookups, and two-legged family members might certainly appreciate the well-maintained playground. There’s even access to a swim beach, but unfortunately, your salty-sea dog will have to keep all four feet on dry land. Shoal Bay isn’t quite as well known as many other campsites in the area, but it can still get quite crowded in the peak season, so it’s best to make your reservation early.

Shoal Bay Recreation Area itself isn’t the largest park, but it’d be a huge faux paw to overlook its recreation opportunities! Keen anglers will be glad to know that the lake is well-stocked with bass, bream, and catfish. The park has something to offer hound-dog hikers, too -- the Bridge Rock Trail winds its way along Shoal Creek and boasts fabulous views of the lake. Careful, though -- the terrain is rocky, and the trail features some sharp inclines. If you’d like to explore a little fur-ther afield, you could check out the Bona Dea Trails and Sanctuary in nearby Russellville, which is home to a six-mile trail system that runs through wooded wonderland and through wetland habitats. Be sure to keep a tight leash on your four-pawed pal to protect the local wildlife!

While wifi isn’t available at Shoal Bay, cellular coverage is mostly okay, but you should still check with your network if you’re concerned. Drinking water is also available. Campfires are allowed at this site, but the park asks that you don’t move firewood. Remember to bring waste bags for your buddy, and have a pawesome trip!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
