Today it is a place of recreation, the site of fund-raising events, and a place that draws visitors to see the spot with such a peculiar name. Just in case you are really interested in toads, the nearby town of Conway hosts an annual Toad Suck Daze Festival, featuring a toad race competition.
The Toad Suck campground really does exist. The campground is located on the eastern edge of both the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. Campers will find that it has 48 sites with electric and water hook-up plus 5 group picnic shelters. Tents and RVs are welcome here, but the campground cannot accommodate big rigs.
Summer is the peak season for Toad Suck visitors. The park has recreational amenities that include basketball courts, soccer fields, volleyball courts, a newer playground, and a boat ramp. The campground runs along the shore of the Arkansas River with some sites on the waterfront. It is a perfect site for people who like to go fishing, hiking, picnicking, boating, those who appreciate nature, or just those who like spending time together with family, friends, fellow campers, and their fur-ever friend.
Yes, pets are welcome. There is a dog area where you can take your pooch for needed exercise. Owners must immediately clean up after their pets and properly discard of waste. Keep your dog on a leash, and never leave them unattended.
