The Bark Park is a paid dog park located at the Bluhm County Park in Westville, Indiana. In addition to the dog park, the 96-acre county park is home to spring wildflowers, prairie, wetland, a pond and a variety of nature trails. There are also picnic areas, a playground, and public restrooms.
The three-acre Bark Park at Bluhm County Park is securely fenced and located in a serene, scenic location. It consists of a single, open space area for dogs of all breeds and sizes to explore, roam around, and socialize in. The park’s surface is made up of neatly groomed grass which dogs simply love rolling around on and some ungroomed, bushy areas for sniffing adventures.Â
There are several trees growing in the off-leash area which provide a decent amount of shade for dogs too cool off in on the warmer days. The dog park is equipped with several agility obstacles, such as the A-frame and hoop dogs can jump through.Â
There are benches and drinking fountains which help make sure the Bark Park at Bluhm County Park's patrons remain comfortable and hydrated during their visit. The annual membership fees for the dog park are $30 for the first dog for LaPorte county residents and $40 for the non-residents, as well as $10 for each additional dog.Â
The park is worth the investment according to the patrons of this park, some of whom drive an hour to enjoy this beautiful location and to make sure their canine companion gets their daily dose of off-leash exercise. However, feel free to check this park out for $3.00 per dog for a day if you are a LaPorte County resident or $4 if you are from out of town.Â
Not only does this lovely park provide a safe place for off-leash fun and a relaxing setting for the owners, but the Bark Park at Bluhm County Park also hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Some of these include the Tire Jump, Doggie Crawl, or King of the Hill.
