Description
Wicker Memorial Dog Park is an idyllic doggy play haven located in Highland, Indiana. Situated on 226 acres of naturally wooded property, this dedicated dog play space boasts of miles of hiking trails and a fully fenced play section in which dogs can enjoy off-leash play. Though the enclosure is a designated off-leash zone, owners are required to carry a lead with them at all times in case of an emergency. In all other areas of the park, dogs are to remain leashed.

Access to this public space is fee-based. For residents of Highland, memberships start at $25 per dog with each subsequent dog $10. Non-township residents pay slightly higher fees at $60 for the first dog and $20 for the second or more. Those from out of state pay the highest member dues at $100 for the first dog and $30 each subsequent. Owners can register for park use at the Wicker Memorial Park Picnic Office. Proof of vaccinations and identification are required at the time of registration. Wicker Memorial Dog Park requires all dogs to be current on the following inoculations: Rabies, Parainfluenza, Bordatella, Hepatitis, Distemper, and Parvovirus.

Water suitable for drinking is provided on the premises to help keep Fido well-hydrated during his visit to the park. It is unknown if bathroom facilities are available for public use. Benches are provided in well-shaded areas where owners can relax and supervise their dogs at play. It is also not known if poop bags are available on the premises; however, it is required that all owners pick up and properly dispose of all canine waste.

In accordance with Lake County ordinance #1244F, "Pit Bulls" and Pit Bull type dogs are not permitted in Wicker Memorial Dog Park. This ordinance forbids the presence of these particular breed types in any off-leash dog facility. It is also mandatory for all dogs to be licensed with the city (or their state if not residents of Indiana). Could Fido benefit from an afternoon of burning off some steam?
