Kokomo Dog Park (at Mehlig Park)

On West Carter Street, east of Berkley in Kokomo, Indiana lies Mehlig Park and Kokomo Dog Park. This quiet city park is a perfect place to get away from it all after those long, busy days. This plush, green 1-acre dog park is an ideal location to bring your family pet if you are looking for some off-leash adventures and fresh air. The park is fully fenced in with special gates to help keep your pup safe when entering and leaving the park. The park offers a section for small dogs and large dogs. 

Mehlig Park is loved by the families who visit it. There are playground equipment for children to play on and shaded areas to rest with your family and dog. Dogs are only allowed off-leash in the designated off-leash area and they are not allowed on the playground that is meant for children. The park recently installed two new drinking fountains and a new doggie waste station for your convenience. There is also some agility equipment within the dog park for the more adventurous dogs. 

There are a few rules at Kokomo Dog Park including owners must clean up after their dogs, no more than three dogs per owner and pet owners must remain in control of their dogs at all times. Aggressive dogs will not be permitted in the park. Also, dogs should have their tags visible and be fully vaccinated when visiting this off-leash dog park. The Kokomo Dog Park asks that you not bring dogs into the park who are in heat, ill, or recently had surgery. This is to protect your dog as well as others who visit this quaint community park.

This park has received high reviews from the community and there are plans in the works to expand it even further. So, as you can see, this is a wonderful place to bring your dog for exercise and socialization. Overall, this is a lovely park where the whole family can visit and enjoy the wide open spaces. Your children can enjoy the playground while you and your dog have a bit of fun in the off-leash section of the park. It will make for a wonderful family day for your whole family.
