Barklands of Beckley Creek Park

While the humans enjoy the parklands in Beckley Creek Park, the canines can have some off-leash playtime in the Barklands. This new and clean dog park is one of the favorite places to hang with your doggo in this neighborhood. It provides a safe place for your pal to romp around, roughhouse with new furry friends, and play a game of fetch. Your four-legged friend just might need a nap on the way home! 

The Barklands are located on the northwest corner of Beckley Park, just past the 22-acre Egg Lawn. Here you'll find three separate fenced off sections, each one-acre. These include one for large dogs, one for the little guys, and one that will be “resting” and closed for use. They are rotated frequently, and clear signs indicate which sections are open. Within the fenced off sections, you'll find enough grassy space for your pal to run full tilt,  places to sit, shade, and water. 

To make use of this park, you'll need to have an annual membership from the Louisville Dog Run Association. This helps keep the dog park a clean, safe, and happy place to play, by ensuring that all dogs using the dog parks are up to date on their vaccinations, and have responsible pet parents who will abide by the rules. The Dog Park Permit is $35 for the first dog, $25 for the second dog, $15 for the third dog, and $10 per additional dog of the same household. All of the funds go towards upkeep and improvements to the dog park. 

If your curious canine wants to see what's on the other side of the fences, they are welcome to enjoy the rest of Beckley Creek Park with you on-leash. The park has a plethora of family friendly activities, including the Marshall Playground and Sprayground, the peaceful Oak Picnic Grove, scenic creeks and lakes, and plenty of paved and natural surface trails. Please be sure your pal stays leashed and picked up after on all your adventures. Bring some clean-up bags too!
