Champions Dog Park is located in Louisville, KY, and is part of the city's 222-acre Champions Park. Besides the pawsome dog playground, the park offers family- and sports-related activities along with vast lawns for relaxing and picnicking. Once a golf course, the park's gently rolling hills and shade trees welcome humans and dogs alike. Leashes are required anywhere in the park outside of the dog playground's fences.
The dog park covers 3.6 acres, and is membership-based, requiring all dogs to wear a Louisville Dog Run Association tag, available with an application and $45-a-year resident membership fee. The pup play haven is clean and well-maintained, and the association provides water fountains for dogs and their humans, along with waste stations stocked with bags. Portable restrooms lie within the dog park fence, as well.
This puppy park is fully fenced, so your fur baby can enjoy the freedom to socialize and cavort with their new furry friends. While it's located conveniently close to a highway, the park is quiet and serene. Separate sections provide areas for small dogs under 20 pounds and another for larger ones, though small puppers who want to play with the big dogs are welcome in the large area, too.
The City of Louisville has established some reasonable rules for its dog parks and Champions is no exception. All pups must be licensed, permit tagged, and rabies vaccinated before they can enter the dog park. All female pups in heat and young puppies under four months old should remain at home, and pet parents are expected to clean up after and supervise their dogs at all times.
Also, dogs must be well-mannered before they come to the park. Dog park petiquette includes no mounting other dogs, no jumping on humans, and no excessive barking, among other unwelcome behaviors.
If you and Fido haven't been to Champions Dog Park, there's no time like the present to discover this furbulous place!
