Description
The Cochran Hill Dog Run at Cherokee Park is 1 of 8 designated dog parks that comprise the Louisville Dog Run Association in Louisville, Kentucky. This private park offers two large fenced in areas for dog play. One 1-acre section is dedicated to large dogs with another fully fenced 1-acre portion devoted to small dogs (30 lbs in weight or less). Both offer some shade and seating for their owners' enjoyment.

The dog enclosures do contain some grass but consist largely of dirt. Your dog will certainly get dusty after a day of fun at the Cochran Hill Dog Run; however, the park designers have provided water stations with hoses to help clean Fido up before his car ride home. Fresh, clean water is also available to keep Fido well-hydrated.

The Cochran Hill Dog Run at Cherokee Park is accessible only to dogs and their owners who obtain memberships. Interested dog owners must submit an application form along with the appropriate documentation and the yearly membership fee to the Louisville Dog Run Association's executive for approval.

The cost per year is $35 for the first dog, $25 for the second, $15 for the third, and $10 for each subsequent dog. Once approved, owners will receive a formal permit, tag, and key fob all of which are valid for the calendar year.

Dog owners are required to keep their dogs on leash while entering and exiting the park facilities, but the runs themselves allow for off-leash play. It is required for all dogs to wear a collar during their time at the park, but choke, prong, chain, studded, and Gentle Leader collars are not permitted within the dog runs.

Park officials restrict dog run use to no more than 3 dogs per adult. It is mandated that your dogs must be under your direct supervision and control at all times. Dogs lacking appropriate manners or engaging in aggressive behavior will be asked to leave the park.

It is required by the association that all dogs enjoying the park must have a current rabies vaccination and bear the appropriate proof of this via a rabies tag. Other vaccinations are strongly encouraged as is a veterinary prescribed preventative to address fleas, ticks, and heartworms. It is also mandatory that all dogs bear their current state dog license tag.

Children under age 10 are not permitted in the park, and human food products and tobacco are also prohibited. This dog facility provides poop bags for easy clean up of any dog waste.
