If you are in the bluegrass state of Kentucky you will find a great off-leash dog park in Lexington by the name of Coldstream Dog Park. This twelve-acre park is located within the Coldstream Park just off Newton Pike. Separated into two paddocks, Coldstream Dog Park offers running room for both small and larger dogs to enjoy. You will also find a middle section that, for the most part, is un-mowed.Â
This area is great for hound breeds to 'hunt' in the brush. One thing many visitors have noted is that Coldstream Dog Park does not have watering stations available for your pup. Although, some reports indicate there are plans in place to add fountains for the canine visitors. So, if you plan to visit you may want to make sure to bring your own water.
Another amenity, or lack of, to note is that there are no benches available at Coldstream. Also, it has been noted that you will find very little shaded area inside the park. There are portable restrooms available on site for two-legged visitors, however. You will find waste disposal areas and poop bags are available on site for cleaning up. And as is always the best policy when visiting and public area with your pup, be sure to take advantage of the on-site bags and clean up any 'deposits' your fur baby makes.
Referred to by some visitors as a hidden gem, Coldstream Dog Park is located off the beaten path. Due to its remote location, the park is usually not very crowded, even on the weekends. So if you find yourself in the Lexington area grab a picnic lunch and blanket and take your pup to Coldstream Dog Park for a visit. Just don't forget the snacks and plenty of fresh water for your fur baby as well.
