Surrounded by rolling tree-covered hills, Barren River Lake State Resort Park is one of those unique places for fishing pleasure. It is remarkable for its abundance of channel catfish, rough fish, crappie, largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, and bluegill. The lodges overlook a massive 10,000-acre lake, which offers hours of entertainment for boating enthusiasts.
The marina has 40 covered slips, 100 open slips, rental fishing boats, rental rafts, and a launching ramp. Do not forget to pack your swimsuits, if you are going to the park! The sandy beach is open again and ready to receive visitors. There is a designated swimming area, as well as bathrooms for everyone use.
Although the resort park is open to pets, dogs especially, pets are not allowed in the swimming areas. The good news is guests do not have to fork out more money to use the beach and swimming facilities. In addition to the restaurant, free WiFi, and a full-service lodge, the resort also features an 18-hole regulation golf course, which golf enthusiasts will love, as well as a fully equipped pro shop.
There is a fitness facility, so you do not have to miss your workouts even if you are taking some time off from work. There is a naturalist program, a gift store where you can get souvenirs and occasional special events in which whole families can participate. Dogs are allowed in lodge rooms for an additional fee of $25, excluding tax.
However, there is a limited number of lodges that have been specially designed with pets in mind. Pet parents must sign a waiver upon check-in. Dogs are welcome at campgrounds at no additional fee, but they must be licensed, have proof of vaccinations, cleaned up after immediately, and kept on a leash
This new pet-friendly policy adopted by all Kentucky State Parks makes things a lot easier for pet parents because they no longer have to worry about leaving Spike with other people. Dog owners can now enjoy some time off with their four-legged best friends.
