For true nature lovers, there is also the Jennison Nature Center, a facility named for the highly esteemed conservationist George B. Jennison. The on-premise campgrounds offer both primitive and modern campsites as well as cabin rentals. All camping accommodations are by reservation only, and additional fees apply. Fido is permitted to join his family but must remain on a lead.
The on-site bathrooms afford owners the opportunity to fill a dog dish with drinking water to ensure that Fido remains well-hydrated during his visit to the park. Unfortunately, there is no designated area for dog play nor are there are any poop bags provided. All canine waste removal is the responsibility of each owner, and families must come prepared with poop bags to assist with this task.
Bay City Recreation Area is a public recreational center and camping facility. Entrance to the property is provided to all people and their pooches at no cost. This lovely state park offers varied terrain for families to explore including sand beaches, wooded areas, meadows, marshlands, and prairies.
Among the recreational opportunities available at Bay City Recreation Area are picnicking, bird and wildlife watching, biking, hiking, swimming, and cross-country skiing. There is also a lovely hardwood canopy that provides a stunning backdrop for photos and respite from the heat of the day.
Bay City Recreation Area supports all Michigan law by requiring that all canine visitors be current on vaccinations. As with most state parks, a city dog license is also highly recommended. For a great day at a beautiful Michigan park, plan a visit to Bay City Recreation Area!
