If your pooch is getting antsy from staying indoors all day, bring them to the Behnke Memorial Dog Park to let them blow off steam! Located within the 41-acre Memorial Park, this puppy playground provides a safe fenced environment for your four-legged BFF to run, sniff, and socialize alongside other canines.
Spanning 1 acre, the Behnke Memorial Dog Park is on the smaller side but well-maintained. Visitors say there are usually lots of nice dogs to play with, making it a furrific spot for social barkterflies to meet new pals. Since there is no separate area for small or timid pooches, it would be best to drop by during off-peak times first if your doggo is shy. A tire obstacle course, faux fire hydrant, and toys are provided, so your pupper will still be entertained even if you're the only ones there.
You will also find several trees, benches, and a shelter in the park, but don't get too lax and always keep an eye on your furry charge even when you're sitting in the shade. Be sure to stoop and scoop if your woofer makes a mess—cleanup stations are within easy reach for your convenience. Remember to offer your dog some water after they've made a few sprints around the park. If you forgot to bring your own, simply direct Fido to the on-site pet/people drinking fountain.
Because this is quite a pawpular spot, the grass has been worn down and the surface is now mostly dirt. Furtunately, there's a hose to give your dusty dog a quick rinse before heading home. Or you can have a towel or wet wipes handy to clean off Fido's paws.
The facility is open 24 hours, so it's pawfect for dog parents who work long days. No matter what your schedule is, you can always bring your canine friend to the Behnke Memorial Dog Park for some off-leash exercise!Â
