Does your doggo need some adventure in their life? Then plan a weekend getaway to Brighton Recreation Area. Not only will your pupster love the gorgeous scenery, they’ll be amazed at the area’s natural history. That park is filled with moraines, kettle ponds, and other deposits that were created by ancient glacial activity in the Pleistocene Epoch. That’s doggone impressive!
If your pooch loves to hike, then this is the place to
be. Brighton has nearly 10 miles of trails that are for hikers only.
Penosha Trail is a five miler that will give your pooch the exercise they need.
Follow this trail as it winds through a thick forest of maple, hickory, and
oak. Wildflowers, small ponds, and wild mushrooms make this trail extra
puptacular. For something a little shorter, take the two mile Kahchin Trail and
hike along a rolling ridgeline. If your dog wants to enjoy some waterfront
scenery, opt for the 1.5 mile Bishop’s Lake Trail. No matter where you and your
pupster wander, be sure to have plenty of water and trail snacks on hand.
Since it has several lakes and ponds, Brighton Recreation
Area is a pawsome place for watersports. Bring your canoe, kayak, paddle board,
or boat and explore the many bodies of water. Or cast a line from the shore and
see if you can bring in a whopper. If your pup is itching to get their paws
wet, head over to the pet friendly beach at Chilson Pond and let them go for a
dip. They’ll be in heaven!
This puptacular park also has campgrounds, picnic areas,
restrooms, and a disc golf course. Needless to say, you won’t run out of things
to do. While visiting Brighton, remember to always have a clean-up bag available
so you can pick up after your pooch, as well as plenty of water to share. Keep the leash on wherever you roam in this puptastic spot!
No bones about it, your pup will love Brighton Recreation
Area!
