Situated in the beautiful hills which the state is famous for, Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park is a dream come true for photographers. It rests along the northern edge of the Redbird Purchase in the Daniel Boone National Forest, so you can be certain that you'll never get an ugly view.
The resort has 36 rooms which have patios and private balconies. If you can think of yourself surrounded by picturesque Mother Nature while enjoying your cup of coffee on the balcony, this is the place to go! The lodges had built-in Bedford sandstone and trimmed with paneling.
Relax by of the fireplace or go to the veranda if you want to see the beauty of the surroundings. The spectacular mountain scenery is something you do not see every day. It’s quite sure your four-legged best friend will like it too. When you stay at the resort, you can go to the beach in just a few minutes.
The resort is also within reach of Grover Sizemore Park and Hazard Village Shopping Center. The pet-friendly resort allows two dogs of any size. However, cats are not allowed on the premises. The pet fee is $30 per pet in the lodge rooms and $50 per stay in the cottage.
Some other activities available in the lake resort are miniature golfing, boating, fishing, and swimming. However, swimming is seasonal and is only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The lodge swimming pool is exclusively for lodge and cottage guests.
There are nature trails where you can take Spike for a walk. There are two self-guided trails for you to explore with your favorite pooch so make sure you bring a water jug, so you and your dog do not end up thirsty while exploring. Opportunities for mountain hiking are also available, and they will blow your mind.
