Pets are welcome to join their families at Carter Caves State Resort Park in most areas of the facility. There is a maximum of two pets allowed per rental unit. For dogs joining their owners in one of the rooms in the lodge, there is an additional cost of $30 plus tax per dog.
It is not known if this cost is a one-time fee for the duration of the guests' stay or if it applies on a daily basis. For dogs staying with their families in a cottage, the fee is $50 plus tax per dog. Guests who bring dogs to a booked accommodation without first informing the host will be subject to the $50 fee plus an additional $100 for cleaning.
Drinking water is available on the premises for dog use. There are no poop bags provided; however, owners are responsible for all pet waste removal and should come prepared with bags from home to assist with this task. Carter Caves State Resort Park is a public facility, and entrance to the park itself is free of charge.
All accommodations are fee-based, and a reservation is required. While dogs are welcome to accompany their owners to Carter Caves State Resort Park, they are not permitted on any park trails which share access to the State Nature Preserves. This particular Kentucky park bears the distinction of having the highest concentration of caves in the state.
Among the great attractions at this state park are 26 miles of hiking trails, rock climbing, and rappelling. There is also an on-site restaurant and a nine-hole golf course.
