Description

Charlestown State Park is a dog-friendly park that features hiking trails, fishing piers, picnic areas, playgrounds, and campgrounds. Prepare to visit the park ahead of time by getting your dog’s vaccinations up-to-date as well as displaying license and identification tags on their collar.

You also need to bring along a six-foot leash to keep your dog on unless they are safely inside an RV or tent in the campgrounds. Dogs are allowed in campgrounds and other designated areas. Inquire further about acceptable areas when you make your reservations or check-in at the campsite.

Dogs are not permitted in specific areas such as public buildings, swimming pools, and recreation buildings. Exploring the natural areas of this park with your dog is excellent. You get fresh air and bond with your dog as you navigate through natural terrain.

Wildlife can show up at any time and that’s when the six-foot leash comes in handy. Remember to keep your dog leashed and guide them away from confrontations with wildlife. It’s best to carry a first-aid kit for your dog in case of an emergency during your visit.

Aggressive or territorial dogs are not welcome at the park. Keep your dog at home if aggression is a characteristic your dog exhibits. You need to keep control of your dog at all times but especially during the hours of 11:00 PM to 7:00 PM daily. This time frame is considered a quiet time at the campgrounds.

Providing your dog with comforts of home such as bedding, blankets, and toys often help keep dogs quiet during this time. Always bring along general survival supplies for your dogs such as food, fresh water, medication and anything else that will help your dog’s outdoor adventure safe and fun.

Overall, Charlestown State Park is a beautiful state park that allows you to bring along your dog. This is a fantastic place to relax, enjoy an outdoor adventure, and bond with your dog. So, take a trip to Charleston, Indiana today and enjoy nature at its wildest.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
