Ferrysburg Dog Park (at Coast Guard Park)

The Ferrysburg Dog Park is a public dog park located at the Coast Guard Park in Grand Haven, Michigan. In addition to the dog park, the Coast Guard Park features playgrounds and sports facilities that include tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball fields, and basketball courts. There is a spacious (and free!) parking lot, picnic areas, and public restrooms in the park as well. 

There are beautiful trails that run throughout the park that leashed dogs are welcome on. The Ferrysburg Dog Park is easily accessible and can be found on the west side of the park, past the soccer fields. It offers a safe, securely fenced environment for dogs to stretch their legs, socialize and play without a leash. The entrance to the dog park features double airlock gates that help minimize the risk of dogs slipping out. 

The Ferrysburg Dog Park is nearly an acre in size and has a simple, open space layout. The park’s surface rarely gets muddy according to the regular patrons and consists of lush grass that dogs love running on. The Ferrysburg Dog Park is equipped with water fountains for both dogs and their owners in the off-leash area. Plus, there are kiddie pools that owners are welcome to fill up for their pooches in the summer, just make sure to pack a towel for your dog’s paws. 

Free waste bag dispensers are available too, along with designated dog waste receptacles which help prevent unpleasant odors and keep this park clean. There are toys scattered throughout the dog run which are great for playtime but a choking hazard if your dog is a chewer so please make sure you supervise your four-legged family member if that is the case. 

You can do so comfortable from one of the numerous benches or picnic tables located within the dog park’s shaded areas. The Ferrysburg Dog Park is the ideal location for canine playtime and socialization. But if you have a very active and energetic pooch or a dog that simply prefers to sniff and explore ungroomed nature areas, consider taking your canine companion on one of the trails that pass forested areas for additional exercise.
