Fisherman's Island State Park

Fisherman's Island State Park is located on 2,678 acres of property in Charlevoix, Michigan. This stunning recreational area is also home to two rustic campsites for families to enjoy. Fisherman's Island State Park earns high marks from visitors for its proximity to Lake Michigan. 

With five miles of pristine shoreline to its credit, this state park boasts of a remote beachside setting which lends itself well to quiet reflection. Fido is welcome to join his family at Fisherman's Island State Park. As with most public recreational areas, dogs must remain on a lead at this facility. 

There are no on-site amenities provided for canine or human use. Though vault toilets are housed on the grounds, there are no showers. Owners should bring both drinking water and poop bags with them to the park. The responsibility for all pet waste removal lies with each owner.

Fisherman's Island State Park is a public recreational area and campground. Entrance to the premises is free of charge. Campsites are available by reservation only, and it is assumed a fee is applicable. The camping facilities are extremely rustic, but visitors do report that they are exceptionally clean and well-maintained. 

The island this park was named after is no longer in existence, and the grounds are now housed on the mainland. There are many great recreational activities for families to enjoy at Fisherman's Island State Park including biking, hiking, fishing, and picnicking. The area is also home to plentiful wildflowers (in season). 

Those looking to enjoy a more strenuous workout can tackle the on-premise sand dunes or a hike through the forested areas of this beautiful state park. Many visitors to this area like to meander the shoreline in search of the renowned Petoskey and Charlevoix stones to take home as souvenirs of a wonderful vacation.
