The Grand Haven Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in Grand Haven, Michigan. The dog park is located in the corner of the city's East Grand River Park and has a parking lot which can be reached by driving north along Eastern Avenue. The dog park is right by the river, but there is no swimming access for dogs.
This dog park in Grand Haven came about after several pet-loving residents got together to raise funds to create it. The city's park's department doubled their efforts, and the Grand Haven canines are still cheering, in a barky tone, about the amazing results. The large dog area has a sloping hill for them to run up and down which tires them out nicely.
The small dog area slopes but isn't as steep so their little legs can still manage to scamper over it. There are trees in both off-leash compounds inside and outside of the perimeter fencing. Pet parents should take care when unleashing their pups as there is just a single gate entrance to the dog park rather than a staging area.
The dog park functions on the standard list of do's and don'ts. Young humans under ten years of age are not allowed in the off-leash areas without an accompanying adult for supervision. The spaying and neutering of all pups is highly recommended, and intact females in heat should be kept at home.
All dogs using the facility should be in good health and current on their shots. If a dog is showing any type of symptoms which might be an illness, then don't take it to the dog park. Scooping poop helps prevent the spread of parasites and bacterial infections so every pet parent visiting the dog park is expected to do their duty and help keep the park in the condition they would like to find it in.
