Griffy Lake Nature Preserve Dog Park, also known as Ferguson Dog Park, is a large off-leash area you and your dog can visit on a daily basis. This fenced-in park has separate areas for small dogs and large dogs. During the warmer months, the park provides a drinking fountain and large bowl to help your dog stay hydrated. Bring along water and portable dog bowl during the winter months because the fountain is turned off due to the weather.Â
The large dog area has picnic tables and a shaded area for pet parents to relax while their dog plays with his friends. A Porta Potty is located in the parking lot for pet parents to use when needed. The park provides poop bags for your dog in a variety of locations. Always clean up after your dog to assure the park remains clean and welcoming to everyone.Â
There is a $50 annual fee to visit this park. You also have to bring documentation showing your dog’s vaccinations are up-to-date. This helps prevent the spread of illness. Dogs that are injured or sick should remain at home until completely healed.Â
All dogs need to remain on a leash until they enter the designated dog park area. Once inside pet parents can remove the leash and allow their dog to enjoy the park off-leash.Â
As with anywhere you go, you are responsible for your dog at all times. Always keep an eye on your dog and remove him from any aggressive situation that could lead to injury. If there’s an aggressive dog at the park, you need to remove your dog and return later or another day to avoid contact with the dog.Â
Dog owners are encouraged to remove their dogs as soon as aggressive behavior is shown. Overall, this park is large, provides water and waste bags, plus accommodates pet parents with a shaded area, picnic tables, and a restroom.Â
