Grosse Pointe Woods Dog Park (at Lake Front Park)

Grosse Pointe Woods Dog Park located at Lake Front Park is along Jefferson Avenue and between Ford Property and Milk River. This is a residents-only park that requires a $20 annual dog park fee. Dog owners must be 18 years old and must visit the Community Center to fill out an application and pay the fee. You need to bring along the GPW dog license, proof of $100,000 of homeowner’s liability insurance coverage that covers damage or injury caused by a dog, and current vaccination records that include Bordatella and DHPP. 

The Grosse Pointe Woods Dog Park is fenced-in for security and to prevent dogs from running away. Dogs need to be leashed until entering the special dog park area. Place the leash back on your dog before leaving the dog park area. Dogs are not allowed to roam around on other property without a leash. 

Bring along water for your dog and a portable bowl to prevent dehydration, especially on hot summer days. Also, bring along doggie poop bags to make sure you clean up after your dog immediately. The Grosse Pointe Woods Dog Park at Lake Front Park is clean and has plenty of open space. 

Pet owners need to remove their dog from the park at the first sign of dog aggression towards others. Place your dog on the leash immediately and calmly escort your dog out of the dog park. All pet parents are responsible for their dog’s behavior including bites to humans and other dogs as well as damages to property. Always report any incident regarding aggression to the Community Center office. 

Overall, the Grosse Pointe Woods Dog Park at Lake Front Park is conveniently located for residents to visit daily. It has plenty of space for dogs to run around, socialize and play. Pet parents can play a game of fetch with your dog but be prepared for other dogs visiting the park the same day to join in on the fun.
