Description
The Hartwick Pines State Park is in Grayling, Michigan. This stunning natural wonderland is comprised of 9,672 acres of property including 49 acres of forested area which consists of old growth pine trees. Also housed on the grounds is a logging museum which pays tribute to 19th century Michigan logging techniques and history. 

There is no designated dog play area at Hartwick Pines State Park; however, dogs are permitted to join their owners on their campsites as well as in all areas of the park while on a lead of no more than six feet in length. Dogs are not permitted to enter public buildings or beach areas. 

Hartwick Pines State Park is a public facility. Access to the property is granted to all dogs and their owners free of charge. This beloved state park offers campsites available for rental as well as cabins and cottages. Fees are applicable to reserve a campsite, cottage, or cabin. 

There is no fee for dogs to accompany their owners on their camping expedition. There are many outdoor activities for families to enjoy at Hartwick Pines State Park. Among the recreational opportunities are a campground, kayak rentals, bathrooms with showers, a paved path which meanders through an aged pine forest, and hiking trails.

Hartwick Pines State Park has earned the distinction of being the biggest state park in the lower peninsula of Michigan as well as the fifth largest park in the state. Since this scenic property offers no specific fenced area for off-leash play, there are no on-site amenities provided on the grounds. To ensure access to drinking water, owners should bring some with them from home. It is unknown if poop bags are available on the grounds. 

Owners should carry some to assist them with cleaning up after their dogs as is required by Michigan law.
