Though it is not known how many enclosures are on the property in total, it is reported that there is one play area which is reserved for use by small dogs. In addition to this, all of the dog runs are suitable for off-leash play. Dogs are required to remain on a lead when traveling to and from the play areas. Additionally, owners are asked to carry a leash with them at all times in case of an emergency situation.
Entrance to this public play space is fee-based, and a membership is required. Owners must submit a completed application form along with proof of mandatory vaccinations and the requisite fee to the Humane Society staff for consideration. Proof of the following inoculations is mandatory: rabies, bordetella, distemper, and parvovirus. A registration fee of $75 for the first dog and $50 each subsequent is required for a year's membership.
Day passes are available at a cost of $10 per dog, per day with each additional dog park permit set at $5. It is also important to note that proof of spay or neuter is required at the time of registration. A key fob will be provided upon approval of membership. The key offers owners access to the play areas even during hours when the Humane Society itself is closed. Owners should make note of the fact that this park observes seasonal hours.
Also housed on the property is over 1.5 miles of beautifully landscaped and forested trails for Fido and his family to enjoy. Picnic tables are also provided in shaded areas to allow a quiet place for relaxation. Park officials forbid all food, toys, and glass bottles on the premises as well as smoking.
Water is provided to help meet all of Fido's hydration needs during his play time at the park. Additionally, bathrooms are available for public use in the Humane Society's main building. Poop bags are also accessible via on-site dispensers. Owners are required to pick up and dispose of all canine waste materials. For a day you and Fido will never forget, bring your favorite canine pal to the Humane Society of Indianapolis Dog Park!
