When you come and visit the Island Lake Recreation Area, you will find many different amenities that are available for your enjoyment. This park has a swimming beach, a metal detecting area, a paddle-in camping area, restrooms, a visitor center, picnic tables, picnic areas, grills, dump stations, and availability for hiking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing, and so much more.
Dogs can also come and visit this park, but they must remain on a six-foot-long leash during their entire stay. During your visit to this state area, you must follow the rules and regulations that are enforced by the Michigan State System. Dogs must be licensed, tagged, and vaccinated before they can enter the area, and female pooches in heat and young pups under four months old must remain back at home.
Dogs must be well-mannered before they come to the park as the Island Lake Recreation Area does not tolerate any destructive behavior, and humans must pick up and watch over their pooches while they are here. Humans should also carry water and dog bags for all of their fun times in this park. Reservations are required for those that desire to camp in this recreational area.
