South Central Houston is the home of the Joseph “Jody” Miller Dog Park at Fonde Park. An inviting fenced enclosure with a grass surface, this doggy playground is a pawsome spot for your fur baby to get some exercise and socialize with other like-minded pups.Â
Jody Miller Dog Park’s lush grass surface, shade trees, and open space make for many hours of frolicking fun for dogs of all shapes and sizes inside the high fenced and double-gated enclosure. It’s wise to be sure your small or shy fur baby is comfortable around larger, active dogs before entering as this park only features one area. A few pieces of agility equipment provide a challenge for dogs in training and are tons of fun for pups who are not.Â
Shade trees and benches dot the park, and a multi-user water fountain installed on a cement slab keeps everyone hydrated. The surrounding quiet neighborhood is a combination of homes and businesses and is easy to find. Free parking is available on both the north and south ends of Fonde Park, making the dog park, which is located in the northeast corner, a short on-leash walk from your car.Â
Dogs must display their city registration/license and rabies tags. For everyone’s health and safety, please don’t bring puppies under four months or females in heat to the dog park. A complete list of the park’s rules is posted near the entrance.
If your pooch still has some unwinding to do, head over to the Brays Bayou Trail, a 34-mile paved path that meanders alongside the peaceful bayou and passes right by Fonde Park.Â
For an afternoon romp your pup will love, head to the Jody Miller Dog Park for a barkin’ good time!
