Leelanau State Park

Leelanau State Park is located on the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula, and it is filled with adventure, fun, and pure exhilaration. Visitors love to explore this state park because of all that is has to offer. Leelanau State Park covers over 1,300 acres and it has a significant meaning as the word "Leelanau" means "A Land of Delight" in Native American. 

Most visitors also claim that this park is well-maintained and very quaint. During your stay at Leelanau State Park, you will find many different amenities for your enjoyment. This park holds the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum, campgrounds, hiking trails, two cabins, skiing trails, and a picnic area. 

If you pay attention along the shoreline, you can find Petoskey stones for your keepsake. You can also wildlife view, hunt, hike, and ski here. Dogs can even come to Leelanau State Park, but they must remain on a six-foot-long leash during their entire stay. While you are visiting the Leelanau State Park, you must follow the rules and regulations that are enforced by the area. 

Dogs must be licensed, tagged, and vaccinated before they can enter the park, and female pooches in heat and young pups under four months old must remain back at home. Dogs must be well-mannered before they come to this park as Leelanau State Park does not tolerate any aggressive behavior, and humans must clean up and watch over their dogs while they are here. 

Humans should also bring water and dog bags for all of their fun adventures in this park. If you wish to camp at this state park, you must schedule a camping reservation. Reservations can be made on the state park's website or in the state park's main office. Overall, Leelanau State Park is a fabulous addition to the Michigan area.
