Little Squalicum Park Off-Leash Dog Area was newly fenced in 2014 and has a separate area for small dogs so they are out of harm’s way from the big dogs. This off-leash dog park welcomes all dogs on its trails, however, it is a must for owners to keep them away from the creek because the creek may contain hazardous chemicals which are harmful to dogs and other animals.
Easily located on Marine Drive at Lindbergh Avenue in the Urban Growth Area, it is one of the best places where you can bring your pooch because of its long beach. However, dogs must always be on a leash when at the beach. You can run with your dogs or bike with them on a warm day.
There is shade provided all throughout the Little Squalicum Park Off-Leash Dog Area where you can seek refuge if it gets too hot. There is also a collection of large rocks and overturned tree trunks, which can make for great seating for humans and obstacle course for their dogs.Â
You and your canine friend can go for a little exercise at the park and it is a great place for your dog to socialize with other dogs in the neighborhood. Cleanliness is important in any park but sadly, Little Squalicum does not have litter bags, so remember to bring your own when heading there. There is a large parking lot, so you need not worry about finding a parking space should you decide to drive but be warned that it can get a little crowded on the weekends.
As great as the Little Squalicum Park Off-Leash Dog Area is, there was a bit of a problem with water supply. To solve it, the city has provided a water fountain with a low dog bowl attachment but there are certain seasons when the water fountain does not work so it is safer to bring your own supply.Â
