Lowell, Michigan is home to a lot of dog-loving individuals, many of whom banded together in the early 2000s to fund the creation of a dog park in the area’s beloved Stoney Lakeside Park. Their efforts came to fruition in 2007, and the Lowell Dog Park has existed ever since as a community hub for local dog owners and their beloved pets.Â
The park was created with dogs in mind, and that is reflected in the park’s extensive list of amenities and overall culture. Drinking water is available to both dogs and humans as the season allows, and the park is lighted until 10:00 PM every night of the year. Shaded benches placed strategically throughout the park offer owners plenty of room to gather while closely monitoring their dogs as they play.Â
The entire area is enclosed, with separate enclosures for both small and large dogs. This lets dogs socialize with other dogs their own size, which has proven to be important in maintaining a friendly and safe play environment for popular parks such as Lowell Dog Park. The City of Lowell owns and operates Stoney Lakeside Park, which includes Lowell Dog Park in its scope of maintenance.Â
The Lowell Dog Park at Stoney Lakeside Park is free for all dog lovers to use, and parking is easy and accessible. Dogs cannot access the lake from the dog park, and different rules apply if you plan on taking advantage of the water. Most park regulars drop by the park at least once a day, so you will have no shortage of other people and dogs to interact with.Â
Just be sure to pick up after your dog using the poop bags provided at the park; recent efforts to keep the park clean have made residents more vocal about chastising you for failing to do so. If you are looking for a friendly, dog-loving community of people to gather with, or if you just happen to be passing by, Lowell Dog Park was created with dogs and dog owners in mind. Come check it out!Â
