Lyon Oaks Dog Park

Lyon Oaks Dog Park is situated on 13 acres of property within the family-centric Lyon Oaks, a park in Wixom, Michigan. This much-loved Oakland County park space offers fully fenced dog runs where dogs can enjoy off-leash play time. To provide a safe space where small and more reserved dogs can also enjoy some socialization and roughhousing more appropriate to their size and personality, one section of the fenced space is reserved for use by dogs weighing less than 30 pounds.

Lyon Oaks itself consists of 1,041 acres of pristine natural terrain. Housed on the grounds are over six miles of trails suitable for hiking, biking, and even cross-country skiing. Dogs may join their owners on the trails but must remain on a leash in these areas of the park. 

Lyon Oaks Dog Park encourages all dogs and their owners to visit the play areas by providing entrance to the dog park at no cost. Though there is no charge for using the dog park, Lyon Oaks does require that all visitors purchase a parking permit or day pass. Day passes are available for $5 per day for residents and $10 for non-residents. Alternatively, a yearly permit can be purchased for $30 for residents and $46 for those residing elsewhere. 

With all of the amenities in place for a great day at the park, the dog runs contain the following items: water suitable for drinking, a training field, and poop bags. Also housed on the property for public use are benches, shelters, and picnic areas which include comfortable seating where owners can relax and unwind. 

Though Lyon Oaks Dog Park places few expectations on dog owners, it is required that all dogs be inoculated against rabies, bordetella, and distemper. In addition to this, park officials have mandated that all dogs be licensed with their respective township and bear their license tag on their collars.
