McLain State Park

McLain State Park sits in the middle of the Keweenaw Peninsula enhancing the magnificent Lake Superior. It is perfect for anyone that is looking for an exciting time in the Michigan region. This park has over two miles of beach along Lake Superior, providing visitors with the perfect entrance into the gorgeous waters of this area. It is also situated in between Calumet and Hancock so visitors can indulge in the extra added amenities that sit outside of the park. 

When you come and visit this state park, you will find many different types of amenities for your enjoyment. This park has open lodging, a concession store, electrical services, a lighthouse, restrooms, picnic tables, picnic shelters, playgrounds, a sanitation station, and availability for winter camping, wildlife viewing, nature programs, hunting, fishing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. 

Dogs can also come and visit this state park, but they must remain on a six-foot-long leash during their entire stay. During your stay, you must follow the rules and regulations that are enforced by the Michigan State Park System. Dogs must be licensed, tagged, and vaccinated before they can enter the McLain State Park, and female pooches in heat and young pups under four months old must remain back at home. 

Dogs must be well-mannered before they come to McLain State Park as this park does not tolerate any aggressive behavior, and humans must clean up and watch over their dogs while they are here. Humans should also bring water and dog bags for all of their fun adventures in this park. 

If you wish to camp, you must schedule a reservation. Reservations can be made on the park's main website or in the park's main office. Michigan is quite lucky to have the fabulous McLain State Park in the area. If you have the chance to visit the region, you will have a wonderful time.
