Mears State Park

Mears State Park sits along Lake Michigan's shoreline just within the village of Pentwater. Providing visitors with endless opportunities, this park fosters all kinds of recreational enjoyment. This park was once owned by a man named Charles Mear, who was an early settler within the Pentwater village. 

His land eventually was donated to the state of Michigan by his daughter, Carrie Mears, in 1923. When you come to this park, you will find many different amenities that are available for your satisfaction. At Mears State Park, you can fish, go metal detecting, hike, snowmobile, swim, camp, and picnic. 

You will also find picnic tables, picnic shelters, playgrounds, sanitation stations, electrical services, a fishing pier, a beach house, a concession store, and a beach. Dogs can also visit this state park, but they must remain on a six-foot-long leash during their stay. During your time in this state park, you must follow all of the rules and regulations that are enforced by the Michigan State Parks System. 

Dogs must be licensed, tagged, and vaccinated before they can enter this state park, and female pooches in heat and young pups under four months old must stay back at home. Dogs must be well-mannered before they come to Mears State Park as this park does not tolerate any aggressive behavior, and humans must clean up and watch over their dogs while they are here. 

Humans should also bring water and dog bags for all of their fun excursions in this park. If you wish to camp, you must make a reservation. Reservations can be made on the park's main website or in the park's main office. Overall, Mears State Park is a beautiful area within the Michigan region, and visitors of all kinds love coming here.
